I'm not sure what our connection is, but I will assume that we're cousins of some sort.
I saw reference to your web page in some material that was forwarded to me by Nancy Resch,

Yeah, I was really pleased to notice that there is a link on your site that shows some of the the people that I have listed on Darrell's family tree. Funny how you figure out who all you are related to once you get a few
generations back on the ol' family tree. I am going to list Mary Livesay's siblings so that you can figure out just how you are related to the Davises. Seems there was a Milum Livesay that married a Davis, and a Milum Davis that married a Livesay. A brother and sister married a brother and sister. It happens on my Burns side too
Well, here we go. Be sure to tell me if you figure out how you are related to the Davises and, if you know anything about the Clarissa Thompson that was married to your Dr. Sam Stone.

Now this is something new. Joe Davis told me the story of his (now I am beginning to think it may have been Joe's father JOHN GUY, cause that might have been while my Grandfather, Lafayette Greene Payne was JP) getting married and my grandmother, Mattie Livesay Payne lending, then giving whoever it was her small ring for the wedding. I am not sure it was true but it could have been. There was a Milum Livesay. It will be interesting to see how were related.

Thanks for getting back with me so quick! I really appreciate that. As a matter of fact, Joe Davis is something like Darrell's first cousins twice removed. Joe's father was Darrell's grandfather's (John Guy Davis) first cousin, so I think I got that close. John Guy Davis is the son of the Harvey Davis of which I am asking. He is the one listed in the first 1880 census you sent. His father was Richard Milum Davis and his mother was Mary Livesay Davis. Harvey is the father of John Guy Davis. John Guy Davis's daughter Ella Davis Thompson is Darrell Thompson's mother. I hope I did not make that too confusing.
Mary Livesay Davis--------Harvey Davis
Mitchell Horton--------John Guy Davis
Bessie Moles Davis----Ella Davis Thompson
Arville Gene Thompson
Hopefully that makes it a little clearer for you. I also thought that Darrell maybe related to you through the Livesay family. I found Mary's (married to R. Milum above) one the family charts for the Livesay's on your Claiborne Pages.
Like I said, I heard about Harvey being dragged by a team of horses or mules and having his leg severely injured. He was supposed to have been found and taken to a doctor's house on Lone Mountain Rd. The house is still there. I think someone said the doctor's name was Wright, but I am not sure of that. Supposedly, he survived a day or more before dying from the injury. His family did not find out about anything until he was already dead.
They lived in Howard's Quarter near Hancock County. If you know anything about this and if it is true or some facts are different from what I've been told, I would appreciate hearing about it.
Once again, thanks for the wonderful pages on the Claiborne County past. They wonderful and I have found them more than helpful as well as just enjoyable. I noticed that your ancestor Dr. Samuel Stone married a Clarissa Thompson. I was wondering if you knew who her parents were? (We'll look into this when I can find a little more time! - Joe Payne)

You've got my great grandmother Julia Ann Livesay married to another woman (Mary Lula Testerman) on page 29300 of your Livesay ged.com
(also on the Testerman file). She would not be amused. She was married to William T. Testerman (son of James Testerman (#80 in the Testerman
file), one of 4 Testerman brothers who married 4 Livesay sisters in this family). Her brother Milum Livesay (1862- c. 1899) is missing on your
list, and was married to Mary Lula Testerman (dau of Wm Penn Testerman).
Also, while I'm here, another great grandmother, Mariah Surgener (page 4567 on the Livesay gedcom) was born 24 Mar 1853 (per Lee County birth
register), died 26 Aug 1942 in Hancock Co., TN (per her death certificate), and was married July 1, 1869 to Milum Davis Livesay, his
first wife Margaret "Monnie" McNeil having died in 1867. There were two other children born to Mariah & Milum who did not survive to adulthood:
Julia (1878-1880) & Elizabeth (1880).
I have more info on ancestry of all these: all 4 of my father's grandparents (Mariah Surgener, Milum D. Livesay, Julia Livesay & W T Testerman were of Livesay descent, and all except Mariah were also descendents of Thomas Testerman). Let me know if you want that info.
