During the 1990's while working with the Environmental Division of Lockheed Martin I continued my letters to Senator Sasser.

I have counted in the neighborhood of 60 letters that Jim Sasser responded back to me in the 20 or so years he was in the Senate. If ever there were a man who should be President he is in my opinion the most qualified.
In 1975 while working with the U.S. State Department, I was asked by a very important State Deparmtment Official to bcome a Foreign Service Staff Officer, Communications Officer, at an outpost in Northern Africa, Addis Ababa Ethiopia. Think of that a Communications Officer in a Communist County. Someone thought very HIGHLY of me wouldn't you say.

I made an unwise decision in 1979 and that was not to join the Air Force when I had the opportunity.

My brother spent the holiday, over three months in Kazakstan where they were building the first new American Embassy.

The Balkins were in the news and of course I follow the news. Senator Sassers keen interest and intelligence lead him to become Ambassador to China and in 1999 was held hostage in the Embassy there because of an American air strike that supposedly was a failed attempt to kill Serbian leader Slobodan Milosevic.

Driving through the large Oak Ridge Reservation daily I watched in the 6 1/2 years I worked there all the pines destroyed by the Sourthern Pine Beetle. Something I had worked to prevent with a reclaimation project I completed in the early 1980's on 150 acres of family owned property.
