This is 2021 information sent by Kelly Park via Facebook, regarding his great-grandmother Martha Ann Payne.
Most all this information is new to me and even added another daughter of James M. Payne and Sarah Roller, Ellen Payne (exact birth unknown). James was only about 13 years old when his father Hiram E. Payne was killed by bushwhackers after stealing horses. My great-grandfather, Anderson G. Payne was the oldest of the family and was wounded in the leg during the same incident. It appears that James M. Payne lived for a while with his older brother Anderson as he is seen on the Claiborne Census
Martha Ann Payne born August 1879 in
Springdale, Tennessee. She was the daughter of James M. Payne and Sarah
Roller, James M. the son of Hiram E. Payne and Mary Polly Anderson.
Rather than me explain the linage of Martha Ann Payne I will place the lineage
furnished by Kelly Park along with some reference documents of mine and his
together. I may make mistakes and if so would

MOORE, son of Winright Moore and Mary Johnson, about 1896. He was born on 05 Jan 1853 in Lee, Virginia. He died on 01 Dec 1937 in Missouri. She married (2) GEORGE HENRY NEWMAN JR, son of George Henry Newman and Isabella Captain, in 1921 in Oklahoma. He was born on 25 Feb 1883 in Osage, Oklahoma (Near Hominy Falls). She was born on 25 Aug 1904 in Oklahoma. She died in Nov 1994. Sterling Benjamin Moore was buried in Collinsville, Tulsa, Oklahoma (Ridgelawn Cemetery). Malta Swift was buried in Collinsville, Tulsa, Oklahoma (Ridgelawn Cemetery). ii. ELLA V. MOORE was born on 21 Apr 1900 in Walnut Grove, Greene, Missouri. She died on 10 Feb 1993 in Texas. She married Ralph Raymond "Ray" Roberson, son of Evans Pickens Roberson and Wanonah Easky, on 31 Oct 1922 in Nowata, Nowata, Oklahoma (Methodist Episcopal). Ellen Payne Evans Cole (aft 1880-aft 1852) marriage record. Rosa's obituary mentioning sister Ellen Evans in Oregon put me on this trail. Ellen has been elusive. I list her born after 1880 because she is not on the 1880 census and died after 1952 because the last I have found on her was in Rosa's obituary. Surprisingly, Ellen had remarried a Cole in 1925 so I am unclear why she was referred to as Evans instead of Cole in the 1952 obituary. |

Rosa Payne to Clifford Vansickle 1904 marriage record. I have seen reference to Rosa being married to a Joe Plowman but have found nothing to confirm that. Rosa was around 27 years old when she married Vansickle so it is possible she had been married previously. |

Martha Ann Payne Moore Newman (1889-1961) obituary. Although the obituary and her headstone show she was born in 1883, she is listed as 9 months old on the 1880 census (it is common family knowledge that she never knew her birth date). In addition, she seemed to get younger with every census. The age on her 1940 census puts her being born in 1886. I am one of the 7 great grandchildren mentioned in the obituary. |
