To:LUFSEY-L@rootsweb.comHello Libby and Listers,
Here for your approval or additions and corrections is the three generational Livesay lineage
as starts with Peter Livesay's parents. I am sure that I have much more, which is not
updated on my program yet. So, if anyone has specific questions, feel free to ask. I can probably
look it up and clarify things for you. I can also give sources, if anyone would like that.
I mentioned the Livesay Historical Society in a previous message and some of my information
comes through historians who are connected to the Society. Don't overlook checking out
their site for information, as well as Joe Payne's site. They are listed in the links which
are connected to my geocities site on the Livesay Page. Check it out.
Hope these reports have given you enough to get started on the right track. With some verification from you and
additional questions, I will be glad to add to this information for you, Libby or any of the other
Listers. I do not mean to slight any of my sources, please forgive if I have not mentioned
someone who I should have. Tim Spradling and Michael Radcliff also connect to this line
at some point and I am sure there are many more. If we are on the right track, just let us
know and am sure you will have all the information on these lines; that you could want to
have. Happy hunting. :-)My Three Generations of Livesays

To:LUFSEY-L@rootsweb.comMy 2G grandfather, William Finch LIVESAY, was born 8 Aug 1865 in Pulaski Co, IL. His father, ? LIVESAY, served in the Cilvil War for Illinois. He lost an arm in the war. I have been unable to find any LIVESAY's serving for Illinois. Does anyone know about this? William's mother was a FINCH. William had a twin that died at birth or shortly thereafter. Wm was the oldest child, and I only have info on him, so I don't know where the others were born. He had a brother, Thomas, who was three years younger, and he had two sisters, Florence and Linney. The LIVESAY's moved to Labette Co, KS, maybe by way of Joplin, MO. During the Depression, Wm, his wife Mary WILSON, Wm's parents, and the younger of Wm's children left Kansas for California. They settled in Lemon Grove, CA, where William died 14 Sep 1943. His wife, Mary Ann, died there 12 Aug 1959. They are both buried in Glen Abby Memorial Park, Bonita, CA.
In the Livesay Historical Society Webpage, I found a family that may fit with the above. It is that of John LIVESAY, born about 1751 in Franklin Co, VA, died 2 May 1832 in Washington Co, IL, and married Rebecca CARTER. Not only are they the only LIVESAY's I have heard of in that part of Illinois, they had a son, Lorenzo Dow who moved, with his wife, to Labette Co, KS.
Does anyone know about this family?? John is the third generation. The address of the page is: http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Hills/4200/livesay.htmThank you,

Margaret Livesay appears in the records of the Franklin Co. Court of march 1787
as a witness for Livesay and Carter against Thomas Arthur.
Other later transactions involving the sale and pruchase of land include Margaret and Abrahm Griffith and she is listed as one of the nine children of
Thomas Livesay in one such transaction.

Hi Tina,
According to the folks at the Livesay Historical Society, my g-grandmother Abby Livesay was the 8th child of Thomas Livesay and Rebecca Goss. Thomas was the son of George Livesay and Nancy Anderson. George was the son of Thomas Livesay and Margaret Stones. This information came from family charts included in a booklet entitled "The Livesay Family USA, published in 1980.I have no other information at this time.
Thanks so much for your helpfulness.
Jim Jones
The 1830 and 1840 census of Hawkins Co. show 8 children. 4 boys and 4 girs.
They appear in the 1850 and 1860 census of Hancock Co. and Mary (Polly) Livesay
is found in the 1870 census but George is not listed.
Probably died at an early age since no record has been found of her.
He is on the census of the 1860 and 1870 Lee County, Virginia but is gone from
both Hancock County and Lee Co. records by 1880. They had 10 children.
Peter was one of 3 children of Thomas Livesay who remained in Franklin Co., Va.
All of his children except George Washington Livesay who moved to Hanover C.
Va remained in Franklin and Floyd Counties. The May, 1787 session of the Franklin Co. Court reports the following: "On motion of Peter Livesay, Bobbin, a Negro man slave, is exempted from the payment of county levies for the future." Peter is found in the records of
Bedford, Henry, Franklin and Pittsylvania Counties as early as 1784 and as late
as 1843. The latter transactions lists the heirs of Peter Livesay, deceased.
He purchased sizeable portions of the land left to his brothers and sisters by
their father, Thomas Livesay, and his will indicates that he accumulated an
estate of more than modes proportions. His descendants still live in SW Virginia, particularly in Floyd Co.
David and Ann had nine children.
