Ed Buis, C.A. "Buddy Torbett", & Edward "Buddy" Duncan in front of the "Hotel Duncan" in 1940
Hotel Duncan, New Tazewell, Tennessee
Although I don't like "borrowing" pictures from other sources I scanned this from the Claiborne County Genealogical and Historical Society's Second Edition Book. It shows the Hotel Duncan full front. The image below shows the Hotel Cawood after it was sold to the Cawood family in 1945. It burned in November 1945. You can see the location and the name clearly even from this microfilm copy of the picture. I am researching the history of this particular block as I believe it to be older than originally thought. Having been built by the FORD family and serving first as the Hotel Ford or Ford Hotel with the building beside it being owned and run by Mr. George Livesay and called Geo. Livesay & Company, General Merchandise as seen in this August 1901 New Tazewell Times paper of which he was the Editor.

James and Gilford Cawood also opened a Western Auto Store in the George Cosby Building located next to the Hotel.
