Viewed only with Internet Explorer - A picture of Tazewell Academy taken probably in the very early 1900's. This was among one of the first schools built in Claiborne County and the first in Tazewell.
Below is a picture that I have identified as being taking between the years 1905-1910 of all classes being taught at Tazewell College or Tazewell Academy. You can identify the building from the window frames and the block foundation. The picture comes from Judy Ryland, granddaughter of Fielden McNeeley and Hazel (Stone) McNeeley. She identifies her grandmother Hazel, born 1901, in this Facebook post: "Tazewell Tennessee, Claiborne County School. In the second row, fourth from the left is my Grandmother, Hazel Stone McNeeley. She is quite small.".

A couple of interesting links about the Tazewell Academy is:
  • Acts of the state of tennessee passed by the general assembly
  • County Tyrone - The Graham Family - (Graeme Family)
