This is the group picture of some of the Campbells with their mother, Sallie LEWIS Campbell born 6/10/1832 in Claiborne County, died 2/17/1918, married Toliver Dotson Campbell in 1854. Sallie was my link to Mark Lewis. Bertha CAMPBELL Payne and Mark LEWIS were first cousins. Ewin Campbell was my Great Grandfather. Sallie was my Great Great Grandmother. Gave you some misinformation on Dotson Campbell. He was Toliver Dotson Campbell (not Dotson Toliver Campbell) born 5/20 1835@Tazewell, died 10/31/1899. They had eleven children (5 girls & 6 boys) that I know of. Those in the picture were: George M. CAMPBELL born abt 1866 Ewin Campbell born 4/29/1870@Lone Mtn, died 5/8/1948@New Tazewell Hosp (m. 12/30/1897@Lone Mtn to Martha Alice SHUMATE born 1/18/1876@Lone Mtn, died 4/17/1957@St. Mary's Univ Hosp@Knoxville) Rufus Campbell Rector Campbell Andy J. Campbell born abt 1855 Marshall Campbell born abt 1864

This is a picture of Martha Alice SHUMATE Campbell beside the house on Bear Creek (where Eliza CAMPBELL Carmack lived). Notice the house behind her. That is the old Stone home. I never saw it like that. Was burned as long as I could remember. Quite a home! No wonder Fred Stone dreamed of rebuilding it. GMAC372@aol.com - Cousin Joe Chumley, Orlando, Fla |
