Marsha Baskin Romer family Report

Notes

Anderson Hunt Young

I'm sending the next generation back this time....this is John H.
(Henry) Young Parents and siblings as I have them....the next back generation is where my family comes in and supposedly goes back to the "lost the horn"...as far as documentation on that? well "I" actually don't have it.... The information on Stephen Young is correct but as far as "HIS" parents, I am still working on....and I believe everyone else should be also....I know he was born in AL....and that Peter Young was most likely his father (documentation being census records in AL)....but I just can't "confirm" the fact on his and Anderson Hunt's mother..."Lost the Horn".
There are others (Patricia Young Henry, Kay Young Griffin, Callie Young) who have researched this much more than I have, back when there were no computers??....This is one of the reasons my book is entitled "Steven Winchester Young Descendants" I am sure of this from my own research.
Patricia Young's "Young History Book" covers from Steve and Anderson Hunt on back..... as I said....covered below is John H.'s parents...this I am sure of... two more things....this Anderson Hunt Young is Stephen (Steven)s' Brother....for sure, for sure (Will explain "why" I know for sure later) and the stories of these families are well covered in the Pontotoc County History book and the Chickasaw County History, which may be purchased from their local historical societies. ....for now just this generation....will send the next generation back when you have time to absorb? all this....looking forward to your reply....

John Anderson Mitchell

Posted to Tutor Boards on Rootsweb April 2000 by Mike Tutor hermitage@livenet.net

Rev. Kelon Partee Tutor, born in 1916, was the son of Walter Lee Tutor (1886-1954) and Myra Elvis Griffin. Walter Lee Tutor was the son of William Bennett Tutor (1856-1919) and Rachel G. Donaldson. William Bennett Tutor was the son of John Owen Tutor (1822-1886) and Martha Ausley. John Owen Tutor was the son of John Henry Tutor, born 7/7/1802, and Martha Patsy Betts. John Henry Tutor was the son of William Owen Tutor (1774-1850) and Lucinda Senter. In the spring of 1853, Henry (born 1802) and Martha Tutor, and their children, in company with John Owen (1822-1886) and Martha Tutor, and their children, left North Carolina for Mississippi. The trip took fifty-two days in covered wagons. They settled near Randolph, Mississippi. On January 5, 1854, Henry and John Owen bought property approximately a mile and a half west of Randolph, Mississippi. The wagon master on their trip was John Anderson Mitchell who later married Henry's daughter, Martha Ann Tutor (1835-1926). Henry's brothers, Samuel (1800-1872) and Harris (1820-c.1877), had moved to Mississippi in 1849 along with their sister, Lilly Phoebe Tutor Johnston (born in 1812). Samuel, Harris and Lilly bought land southeast of Toccopola, Mississippi. Samuel and Harris purchased land there in November, 1849. An excellent source of information on the Tutor family is the book, "Tutor: The Families of Pontotoc County, Mississippi," by Betty Hellums Rowland, Hazel Rodgers and Maxine Karr. It was published in 1980 and may be found in the Pontotoc Library. Betty is a descendant of Harris Tutor (1820-c.1877) and Julia Ann Sexton.

You may not have got this letter from me so I will requote it, I really don't think you should use me as "the source? (((((....the next back generation ( being Peter Young and Lost the Horn) is where my family comes in and as far as documentation on that? well "I" actually don't have it.... The information on Stephen Young is correct but as far as "HIS" parents, I am still working on....and I believe everyone else should be also....I know he was born in AL....and that Peter Young was most likely his father (documentation being only census records in AL)....but I just can't "confirm" the fact on his and Anderson Hunt's mother..."Lost the Horn".There are others (Patricia Young Henry, Kay Young Griffin, Callie Young) who have researched this much more than I have, back when there were no computers??....This is one of the reasons my book is entitled "Steven Winchester Young Descendants" I am sure of his lineage from my own research.

Patricia Young's "Young History Book" covers from Steve and Anderson Hunt on back and states that they believe that Peter and Lost the Horn is their parents.............this Anderson Hunt Young is Stephen (Steven)s' Brother....for sure, for sure (Will explain "why" I know for sure later) I have a copy of two letters from Stephen's while in the civil war. One was to Anderson Hunt, his brother and the other was to his Wife, Mary Katherine...

So this is about all you can quote me as having proof on..... I have sent out all sorts of queries trying to "confirm" that Peter and Lost the horn are thier parents but have not found that as yet.....Kay Griffin of Chickasaw county did most of the research ....on Peter.... better go....ran into lots of familiar names on your page, will get back with you later on some of these...

Matthew Jones

I have been searching for Matthew Jones and Amanda who had several children on 1860 census. Do you have a Matthew , Amanda, Missouri, Albert, Silas, or Jane in your work? Do you know of an old Jones cemetery by chance? Anyone else doing Jones research in Wash or Tangi Parishes? Any help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks, Yvonne
