Jan/John Vandeventer was b. Jun 13, 1697 Kings Co, NY d. Oct 16, 1758 on Staten Island, NY

was a previously unknownancestor and a distant uncle to us.

He married Elizabeth Lakerman the date and place is unknown.They had four children:

1. Abraham†† b. UNK†† d. 1768

2. Catherineb. 1730 d. 1799

3. Cornelius†† b. 1726 d. 1786

4. Ann†††††††††††† b. UNKd. UNK†††

††††††††††††† Jan/John owned a shipyard on Staten Island near what is now the west end of the Verrazano Narrows Bridge.

††††††††††††† The shipyard was on what is now Fort Wadsworth just south of the west bridge tower where Hudson Rd bends back to the south.The site was originally known as Vandeventerís Point until about 1775 then renamed Richmond Point.

††††††††††††† Jan/John most notable ship was the Irene built for the Monrovian Church to transport their immigrants to America from Europe.

Kings Co, NY m. Anna Van Thuyl UNK.Cornelius was the youngest child of Jan Pietersz and Maria Vandeventer.He was their only child born in America.

††††††††††††† In The Vandeventer Family on pg 19 Cornelius was listed as child of Jan and Maria Vandeventer.Other than name the only information listed that he was baptized in 1665.
